What Meta SEO does

Big SEO suites assume you want a dashboard the size of a cockpit. Meta SEO assumes you want to write. Every page and post gets a short written review - what works, what to fix, and why it matters - while titles, descriptions, sitemaps, and schema are handled behind the scenes.

Plain-Language Checks

Each page gets a written checklist instead of traffic lights: what is working, what to fix, and why it matters. Written for writers, not for an SEO conference.

Five-Minute Setup Wizard

Six questions about your site, and the wizard applies sensible defaults for titles, sitemap, and structured data. Everything can be changed later on a single settings screen.

Meta and Social Snippets

Set custom titles and descriptions and see the exact search result and shared link they produce. Open Graph and Twitter card tags included.

A Sitemap You Can Read

A clean, automatically updated XML sitemap. The plugin shows you the exact path to submit in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools - you stay in control of what gets submitted.

Structured Data, Demystified

Choose from a short menu of schema types - article, organization, breadcrumbs, FAQ - and valid markup is added for you. No JSON-LD hand-editing required.

Switch Without Retyping

The importer reads titles and descriptions from your current SEO plugin, so you can move over without retyping a thing. It runs once, locally, and never touches your old settings.

From install to published in four steps

No configuration marathon. The wizard does the heavy lifting, the checklist keeps you honest.

  1. Install

Upload the plugin zip or add it from your WordPress admin. The setup wizard starts on activation.

  2. Answer six questions

The wizard asks about your site type, titles, and preferences, then applies sensible defaults for title patterns, sitemap, and structured data.

  3. Write, then check

While you write, the editor sidebar shows a short review: clear wins, quick fixes, and why each one matters.

  4. Publish with confidence

Meta tags, schema, and your sitemap update automatically as you publish. The documentation walks you through submitting the sitemap, step by step.

The checklist reads like notes from a patient editor. I fixed more on my ten key pages in one weekend than in two years of staring at orange dots.

Questions, answered

What is Meta SEO, in one sentence?
A WordPress plugin that gives every page a plain-language SEO review and handles meta tags, sitemaps, and structured data for you.
How is it different from the big SEO plugins?
The big suites are powerful and mature; Meta SEO is deliberately small. It focuses on written content checks, one readable settings screen, and defaults good enough that most people change nothing after the wizard.
Do I need to know SEO to use it?
No. The wizard sets sensible defaults, and every check is written in plain language with the reason attached. If a line is not clear, the documentation explains what it means.
Will it slow down my site?
No. The plugin adds under 400 KB, loads nothing extra on your front end beyond meta tags and schema markup, and keeps the editor sidebar light.
Can I run it alongside my current SEO plugin?
It is not recommended. Two plugins writing the same title tags and sitemaps will conflict. The importer can carry your titles and descriptions over from another SEO plugin; see the documentation.
Does it work with both editors?
Yes. The content checks and meta fields appear in the Block Editor and in the Classic Editor, and the setup wizard works the same either way.
Can I use it on multiple sites?
Yes. Meta SEO is licensed under the GPL, version 2 or later, so you can use it on as many sites as you like.
How do I report a bug or ask a question?
Write to support@metaseo.net. Include your WordPress and PHP versions and what you expected to happen; every message gets a reply from a person.

Your content deserves a clearer to-do list.

Install Meta SEO, run the wizard, and let the checklist do the nagging - politely.
